The Yosurf score
Built by
surfers.
A clear 0–100 score to decide at a glance: is it worth it, at your level, on this spot?
The higher, the better. The score adapts to your level, from beginner to charger, and to how each spot reacts to a swell. So the same session isn't worth the same to everyone.
The score tells you whether conditions are worth it for your level, not the crowd, nor the exact state of the sandbank. A spot can be huge and unsurfable: we tell you straight. And on-site, observation always beats the forecast.
Data: Open-Meteo with automatic selection of the best weather model per area (in Europe: high-resolution Météo-France), refreshed several times a day. Real-time in-situ measurements via CANDHIS & NOAA.

How is the Yosurf score calculated?+
The score combines the swell (size, period, direction), the wind and the way each spot reacts to them given its orientation and character. Everything is calibrated per surf level, from beginner to advanced. The exact recipe stays our secret, but the principle is simple: the higher the score, the more the session is worth it for your level.
Why does the score change with my level?+
Because the same waves aren't worth the same to everyone. A solid swell can be a treat for an advanced surfer and a trap for a beginner. So the score is computed separately for each level: pick yours and the number adjusts.
Why does my score differ from other apps?+
Every app has its own method and its own data sources. Yosurf relies on the best weather model available per area and rates conditions for your level, not for a theoretical average surfer. Two different numbers don't mean one is wrong: they don't measure the same thing.
How often is the data refreshed?+
Forecasts are refreshed several times a day. And wherever nearby buoys or weather stations exist, their real-time measurements refine the score for the present moment.
Does the score replace checking the spot in person?+
No, never. A forecast is only a forecast: on-site, your own eyes always come first. Check the conditions, the currents and how you feel that day before paddling out. Safety first.
