Peru surf forecast

Peru claims a 3,000-year-old surfing lineage: Moche and Chimú fishermen were already riding waves on reed caballitos de totora off the north coast near Trujillo. Modern surfing was born here in 1942 in Lima, around Club Waikiki, before Felipe Pomar became Latin America's first world champion in 1965. From Lima's urban Costa Verde to La Libertad and Piura up north, water stays cool year-round thanks to the Humboldt Current, warming up as you head toward the equator.
