Chile surf forecast
Chile runs one of the longest and most exposed Pacific coastlines on Earth, swept by the cold Humboldt Current and a constant south swell generated by Antarctic storms. In the north, the Atacama Desert, the driest place on the planet, drops straight into the ocean: Iquique, the 19th-century world capital of saltpeter turned free-trade zone, and Antofagasta, a copper port born from an 1879 dispute with Bolivia, frame exposed beaches like Hornitos and Playa Cavancha, host of a World Surf League event in 2025. Cold water year-round, milder in the far north than in central Chile.
