About this spot
A fast, wedging left off a rocky groyne, not as good since the breakwater was extended. More average peaks further north along the beach; the sandbanks have held up better here than on the Gower beaches. Like everywhere in this area, needs a rising tide up to high to push swell up the channel.

What tide is best for surfing Aberavon?
Aberavon usually works best around high tide. The tide shapes the sandbanks and the depth over the reef, so check the day's tide times before your session.
Is Aberavon suitable for beginners?

What wind is ideal for Aberavon?
The ideal wind at Aberavon comes broadly from North-East: it's offshore, which helps shape and hold the waves. A strong onshore wind generally degrades conditions.
