Two beaches either side of the Wallis Lake breakwater: Forster Main Beach, a sheltered arc patrolled October to April, great for beginners; Tuncurry, punchier near the wall, strong currents and unpatrolled.
Surfable all year. Autumn (Sep-Nov) is the best season: powerful swells, water still mild, less crowd.
Good level required. You can stand, paddle and read a peak. When it fires, better know what you're doing.
Spot next to a jetty or breakwater. Stay away from structures, especially during big swell.
