Today's score by level (at the day's best, out of 100)
The most popular spot on the Crozon peninsula, powerful and fickle. Lots of vans and campers but a good atmosphere despite the crowds. For experienced surfers — can be dangerous in large swells.
Works year-round, sweet spot April to November. Picky: quality depends a lot on swell orientation.
For experts only. Powerful waves, strong currents or technical bottom. Ask locally first.
Easy beach access, parking usually nearby. Ask locally about seasonal currents.
Wear an appropriate wetsuit. Scout the currents before you paddle out. Respect the locals and right-of-way. Check weather and tides.
La Palue is rather recommended for advanced surfers. If you're a beginner, prefer a surf school, a small swell and a suitable tide, or look for a more sheltered nearby spot.
The ideal wind at La Palue comes broadly from East: it's offshore, which helps shape and hold the waves. A strong onshore wind generally degrades conditions.
Around La Palue, you can also check conditions at Goulien, Anse de Dinan, Bordardoué. Compare the scores, wind and swell direction before choosing where to surf.
